Located on Central Avenue, this museum explores the region's natural and cultural history. The museum's unusual name comes from the pink marble used in its construction. The 1920s house was the home of entrepreneur Clarence Saunders, whose Piggly Wiggly self service grocery store was the forerunner of today's supermarkets.
The museum houses exhibts about birds, insects, fossils and geology; Civil War memorabilia; a replica of the first Piggly Wiggly store; and a changing exhibits hall. Open Monday through Wednesday 9am-5pm, Thursday through Saturday 9am-9pm, Sunday noon-5pm in summer; hours vary the rest of the year.
