Sequoyah Birthplace Museum |
This museum honors Sequoyah, the soldier and stateman who created the Cherokee alphabet. Visitors can hear Cherokee myths and legends, examine the Cherokee syllabary that took Sequoyah 12 years to develop, and learn about the history and culture of the Cherokee.
The Cherokee Memorial, next to the museum, holds the remains of 18th century Cherokees excavated from burial sites in the Little Tennessee Valley.
