Joint project of United States and Mexico, Amistad (friendship) Dam impounds the waters of the
Rio Grande just below its confluence with Devil's River. Huge reservoir covers some 64,900 acres and extends 74 miles up the Devil's River and 14 miles up the Pecos River. On the U.S. side, controlled by the National Park Service, two marinas and others planned: Lake Amistad Resort and Marina near S end and Rough Canyon Marina on the Devil's River arm.
