Bowie is located northwest of Fort Worth toward Wichita Falls along US 287, in Montague County.In the Chisholm Trail Memorial Park on the edge of Bowie, a silhouetted herd of Longhorns makes its way north along the Chisholm Trail that cuts through town. Incorporated in 1883, Bowie began with a population of 1,100 settlers and 50 local businesses. Today, its population numbers 5,300, with industries ranging from apparel and athletic goods manufacturing, to agriculture, energy, machine manufacturing, and strong retail trade.
