Cooper is located in
Delta County (of which it is the county seat), northeast of
Dallas between
Greenville and
Paris along Hwy 24 on the banks of the Sulphur River.
Cooper in the early 1990s was a commercial and shipping center for the surrounding agricultural region. In 1991 the incorporated town reported seventy businesses and a population of 2,197.
Cooper Lake and State Park are nearby.
