Fort Leaton State Historical Site

Located 4 miles southeast on River Rd. (FM 170), was a Spanish garrison in the 1770s and a trading post in the late 19th century. Twenty-four of the 40 rooms around the patio of the adobe fortress have been restored. Exhibits depict the area's American Indian, Spanish, Mexican and American cultures, and a slide show describes desert ecology.
