Galveston County Historical Museum |
W.L. Moody, Jr. organized the City National Bank in 1907. In 1919 this building on Market Street became the bank's home. When City National Bank merged with Moody National Bank, the Moody Foundation gave the old bank building to Galveston County which turned it into the Galveston County Historical Museum.
In the National Bank building this museum features exhibits about Galveston women, architecture, jazz, lighthouses and Mardi Gras. An exhibit about the 1900 hurricane features film footage taken shortly after the storm. Allow 30 minutes for the tour and donations are accepted.
