The oldest settlement in
Tarrant County, Grapevine is on the edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, on the Northwest Parkway. It borders
Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport, and has its own
Grapevine Lake.
The settlement was named Grapevine because of its location on the Grape Vine Prairie near Grape Vine Springs, both of which were named for the tart, wild Mustang grapes that blanketed the area.
Still known for its wineries, the community of more than 40,000 is part of the Dallas, Texas metro area.
