in Fort Bend County, Katy is located just west of Houston on I-10, and is part of the Houston, Texas metro area.The town site of Katy was laid out in 1895, supposedly named for the M-K-T Railroad that runs through it, and was formally incorporated in 1945. It is now a suburb of more than 12,000, with strong ties to its past.
