In McLennan County, Moody is located southwest of Waco between Waco and Temple on Hwy 317 and Farm roads 107 and 2113 near Belton Lake. This town was first founded in 1852 and given the name Perry, Texas. In 1881 the town was renamed in honor of Col. W.L. Moody. Moody Drug store was established in 1881 and is one of the oldest drug stores in Texas. The Moody Courier, established 1889, is city's second oldest business.
