Pearland is located in Brazoria County, and is a Brazoria, Texas metro area suburb of 35,000 residents, reached via the South Parkway. The community was first named Mark Belt, when a post office was established in 1893. The name was changed to Pearland in November of that year because of the abundance of pear trees in the community.
