Porter Texas

Porter is located in Montgomery County on US 59, north of the Houston, Texas metropolitan area.

Porter's most famous resident has probably been Robert L. Crippen, United States Navy, who was born in Beaumont but grew up in Porter. Crippen became a National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronaut in 1969 and was pilot for the space shuttle Columbia in 1981.

From 1970 to 1990 the town's population was listed as 2,146.
