Located 2 miles northeast on US 81 Bus Route, occupies 10 buildings of the old Lone Star Brewing Co. off Broadway. The brewhouse, with its modified Romanesque towers and turrets, is now the art museum. The West and East towers contain four levels of galleries. Glass complex along the
San Antonio River includes a 2.5-acre sculpture garden.
Permanent collections emphasize regional materials and art of the Americas. There are exhibits about pre-Columbian sculpture and pottery, Spanish colonial art, contemporary and modern paintings and sculpture, 18th-century and 19-century American art, Mexican folk art, Oriental art, and Greek and Roman antiquities.
