San Antonio Botanical Gardens

Search San Antonio Texas

Located 5 miles northeast, occupies 33 acres near Fort Sam Houston. The botanical center balances formal gardens with several sections planted with native wildflowers to reflect the rural areas of east and southwest Texas and the Hill Country. Adobe houses, a log cabin and an east Texas lake reinforce this rural illusion.

In the more formally cultivated areas are a rose garden, an old-fashioned garden, a Japanese meditation garden, a touch and smell garden for the visually impaired, a children's vegetable garden and an herb garden. Occupying some of the highest ground in the city, the garden's gazebo observatory offers a panorama of the city.
