San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge |
Snow and blue geese winter in this 24,000-acre refuge between Cedar Lake Creek and San Bernard River on the Intracoastal Waterway. Herons, egrets, and ibis are found on marsh ponds, while shorebirds, gulls, and terns are on the mud flats. Nearly 250 species are found in the area's bird list. From Lake Jackson: Take FM 2004 southwest for seven miles. Take FM 2611 south 4 miles to FM 2918. Drive one mile south on FM 2918 to CR 306, then west on CR 306.
