Seminole is located southwest of Lubbock between Brownfield and Andrews on US 62/180 and US 385 on Seminole Draw near the Texas/New Mexico state line.It was named for nearby Indian watering places. It is the seat of Gaines County, which is among the state's leaders in petroleum production, cotton, and peanuts.
