Stafford is a suburb of over 17,000 residents on the edge of Fort Bend County and the southeast edge of the Houston, Texas metro area.
In 1830 William Stafford installed a cane mill and opened a horse-powered cotton gin, reported to have been the first in Stephen F. Austin's colony.
