Features hands-on exhibits pertaining to Texas history, natural science and anthropology as well as changing exhibits. One display focuses on the ecological diversity of the state's seven natural areas and features a walk-through diorama recreating the south Texas thorn-brush landscape and its wildlife. A dinosaur exhibit displays a life-size reproduction of a triceratops. Another display gives insight to the culture and cave paintings of a prehistoric society that flourished in the area more than 8,000 years ago. The museum also includes an EcoLab of live Texas animals, a four-story science treehouse, an outdoor butterfly and hummingbird garden, and three restored houses.
