A monument stands in celebration of the fruit where 40 percent of the Texas crop is grown. The huge replica is seven feet tall and weighs 1,600 pounds. Also there is a monument of Poteet Canyon, Steve Canyon comic strip character named for city. Strawberry Festival every April draws thousands with rodeos, fiddlers, dances and fireworks.
