Bering Land Bridge National Preserve

The Bering Land Bridge National Preserve, near Nome, is one of the most remote natioal park areas, located in northwest Alaska along the Seward peninsula.

The Preserve is a remnant of the land bridge that connected Asia with North America more than 13,000 years ago. Archaeologists agree that it was across this land bridge that humans first passed from Asia to populate the America's.

There are several shelter cabins available. Visitors to the Preserve also enjoy a visit to Serpentine Hot Springs, which has a small bathhouse with water temperatures ranging from 140-170 degrees.

Stop by the visitor center in Nome to learn more about the Bering Land Bridge National Preserve.

The Preserve and surrounding areas include Native villages, with opportunities to observe and learn about traditional subsistence lifestyles and historic reindeer herding.
