Islands

There are 1,800 named islands in Alaska, as well as several thousand which remain unnamed. Many islands are located in southeast Alaska. Kodiak Island is the largest island in the state, at 3,588 square miles.

The Aleutian Island chain, stretching southwest from the mainland, contains more than 200 islands.

Of the state's 10 largest islands, six are in southeast Alaska. Those 10 islands are listed below.
