Kupreanof Island

Located about 25 miles northwest of Petersburg, Kupreanof Island has no roads, except for logging roads in limited areas. Power is provided by generators. Small boats are the primary means of transportation to and from the island.

Kupreanof Island was home to the first mink farm in Alaska. Precipitation on the island averages over 100 inches per year.

Kake is the main city on the island.
