Musk Ox Farm and Gift Shop

This is the world's only musk ox farm. The animals are combed for qiviut, the hair that is woven into hats and scarves by Eskimos in isolated villages. It is eight times warmer than sheep wool. The musk oxen are throwbacks to the ice age.

There is a guided tour and the gift shop features hand-knit qiviut items. There are about 45 oxen on the premises; they look like a cross between a water buffalo and a sheep.

Qiviut is pronounced "key-vee-ute." Admission is charged.
