Wrangell Mountain Range |
The Wrangell Mountains extend southeast from the Copper River to the Canadian border, where they meet up with the St. Elias Mountain Range. Mt. Blackburn is the highest peak within the range.
The Wrangell Mountains were named after Russian explorer Baron Ferdinand von Wrangel. A variety of minerals are mined in the area, including gold, copper, and zinc. The mountains comprise a portion of the Wrangell-St Elias NP and Preserve.
