Alta is located in Salt Lake County south east of Salt Lake City and is reached on Bypass Road out of Draper. Alta is best known for its snow skiing, but offers rugged outdoor activity in the off season.The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 411, an increase of 14 since 1990.
