Owned and operated by Rio Tinto, through its 100% subsidiary, Kennecott Utah Copper Corp. The mine is located near Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. The century-old Bingham Canyon mine is one of the largest integrated open-pit copper mining, smelting and refining operations in the world. Over 300,000 tons of the nation's refined-grade copper is located in Bingham Canyon. There is also gold and silver.
