With one of the most diverse populations in the Salt Lake Valley, Midvale is in Salt Lake County in the Salt Lake City-Ogden, Utah metro area. It lies south of Salt Lake City on Hwy 48 (Center Street), just off US 15. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 11,628, a decrease of 258 since 1990.
