Piute County Bookmobile Library, serving an area of 1,470 residents, has a collection of 37,000 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 160 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 24 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes.
Staffing consists of one employee, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $2,200. Patrons make 3,200 visits annually, and check out materials 9,600 times. Sixty percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
