Located on the University of Virginia campus; the museum first opened in 1935. This art museum contains painting and sculpture of the 15th through 20th centuries with an emphasis on American art. The University of Virginia Art Museum exhibits art from around the world dating from ancient times to present day. In addition to its permanent collection, the Museum presents an ongoing schedule of changing exhibitions, accompanied by related programs and publications.
