Big Stone Gap

Big Stone Gap is located in Wise County and in the Western Region of the state. It is located at the junction of three forks of the Powell River, which has created a pass through Stone Mountain. This mountain country provided the inspiration for novelist John Fox Jr's 'The Trail of the Lonesome Pine. Big Stone Gap is located just east of the Kentucky state line, just off Hwy 23; Natural Tunnel State Park is nearby.
