Edinburg is located in Shenandoah County 35 miles NE of Harrisonburg between Mount Jackson and Woodstock along Highway 11 near Wolf Gap Recreation Area and the Shenandoah River in the Central Region of the state. Once known as the Granary of the Confederacy.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 922, an increase of 62 since 1990.
