This is a Gothic Revival building designed by James Renwick, architect of the Smithsonian Institution. It was erected 1851-52 on the site of a structure built in 1739. Historic documents include the will of Mary Washington. The bell was made by the Paul Revere foundry. Call for hours of operation. Free to the public.
