Mount Vernon is located in Fairfax County south of Washington D.C. on the Potomac river and can be reached via Hwy 235 in the Eastern Region of the state. Mount Vernon is part of the Washington metro area. Mount Vernon was the home of George Washington from 1754 until his death in 1799.
