The Mount Rogers National Recreation Area covers 120,000 acres in Southwest Virginia. It offers camping, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, sightseeing, and mountain bike riding in a wilderness area. Mount Rogers is the highest point in the state at 5,729 feet tall; a trail to the top begins at Grindstone Campground and Grayson Highlands State Park.
