Purcellville is located in
Loudoun County in northeast Virginia between
Winchester and
Arlington on Highway 690 near Round Hill in the
Eastern Region of the state.
Purcellville is part of the Washington metro area.
It was named for Valentine Vernon Purcell an early resident. Purcellville was developed with arrival of the railroad in 1874; the rail bed is now the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park.
