Quantico is located in
Prince William County 23 miles NW of
Fredericksburg between Dumfires and Stafford along Highway 619 on the banks of the Potomac River in the
Eastern Region of the state. Quantico is one of the nation's largest Marine Corps installations and the site of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command. At the entrance is a replica of the Marine Corps War Memorial, a statue depicting the flag raising on Mount Suribachi during the World War II battle for Iwo Jima. The original stands at the north end of
Arlington National Cemetery.
The Quantico National Cemetery is off I-95. Ceremonies on Memorial Day and Veterans Day feature color guards from area veteran's organizations. Quantico is part of the Washington metro area.
