Suffolk is located just SW of
Portsmouth in SE Virginia along Highway 58 near Lake Drummond and the Dismal Swamp in the
Central Region of the state. Suffolk is part of the
Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News metro area.
It was named after the county in England and was the birthplace of "Mr. Peanut".
