Warrenton is located in
Fauquier County, of which it is the county seat, in northeastern Virginia between
Fredericksburg and
Winchester on US Highway 17.
Warrenton is part of the Washington metro area.
It was named after Dr. Joseph Warren, a hero of the American Revolution.
