Buck Island Reef National Monument

Search St Croix

Off the northeast coast and reached only by boat, this is a must-see on any visit to St. Croix. The island's pristine beaches are just right for sunbathing, but there's enough shade for those who don't want to burn to badly and just relax.

The spectacular snorkeling trail set in the reef allows visitors the opportunity for a close-up study of coral formations and tropical fish. The crew members give special attention to novice snorkelers and children. A hiking trail to Buck Island's highest point offers spectacular views of the reef below and St John to the north. Charter boat trips leave daily from the Christiansted Waterfront from Green Cay Marina, about 2 miles east of Christiansted. Check with your hotel for recommendations.
