This joint national, ecological preserve and local park was dedicated in Novemeber 1993. In addition to such sites as cultural significance as a prehistoric ceremonial hall court and burial site, it encompasses a bio-diverse coastal estuary that hosts the largest remaining mangrove forest in the U.S.V.I., a submarine canyon, and several endangered species, including the hawksbill turtle and roseate tern.
