Water Island

Water Island is located in St. Thomas's Charlotte Amalie

harbor, this quiet island is now part of Virgin Island's

territory. Ownership of 50 of this island's acres was transfered

from the U.S. Department of the Interior to the territorial

government on December 12, 1996, making Water Island the fourth

largest Virgin Island. A hotel is planned as are concessions

on Honeymoon Beach. Back in the 1940s, Water Island was the

site of the U.S. Army's Fort Segarra. There was a hotel here

from the 1960s until 1982.
