Chittenden

Chittenden is located in Rutland County, eight miles north of Rutlandnear Chittenden Reservoir. Situated in a mostly hilly and rural setting, Chittenden is one of southcentral Vermont's largest towns in terms of area at 73 square miles. Its population is approximately 1,113.

Chittenden was chartered on March 16, 1780. It was the home of Gershom Beach, who strode more than 60 miles in 24 hours to rally the Green Mountain Boys for the raid of Fort Ticonderoga in 1775.

The Chittenden Reservoir features a public boat launch, fishing and wildlife viewing.
