Craftsbury (pop. 1,136) is located in Orleans County, in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Nearby are Craftsbury Common to the north and East Craftsbury to the east. Chartered on August 23, 1781, Craftsbury comprises 39.56 square miles and is named after Ebenezer Crafts, who was granted the land. In the late 1700s, Craftsbury became a trading post for the North Country. Today, the community is a picture book northern New England village that attracts tourists with its lovely and tranquil setting. Mountain biking, hiking, cross-country skiing and rowing are popular in the area.
