Jericho is located in
Chittenden County east of
Burlington near the Browns River.
The village is noted as the lifetime home of farmer and shutterbug Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley (1865-1931), who was the first person to capture snow crystals on film. Travelers and locals appreciate vistas to the east of nearby Underhill and Mount Mansfield, Vermont's tallest peak.
Jericho and Underhill share numerous ties and frequently collaborate on village projects.
Jericho-Underhill comprises four areas. Jericho's picturesque Old Red Mill stands in Jericho Corners adjacent to Browns River on Route 15. Jericho Center on Browns Trace Road is home to Jericho Center Market, the state's oldest functioning general store. About half of Underhill Flats on Route 15 is in Jericho. This area is home to the new multi-use Mills Riverside Park and two general stores. Underhill Center has two general stores, a Catholic church, post office and access to Underhill State Park, a gateway to hiking and snowshoeing trails.
