Green Mountain Club and its members from across the country share a love for hiking and a commitment to preserving and protecting the Long Trail System. The club hosts a year-round series of educational events, lectures, and slide shows at the headquarters. Although the club cares for the long trail, the club's advocacy and education efforts also safeguard Vermont's many other hiking trails. It maintains the Long Trail in cooperation with the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Appalachian Trail Conference, and private landowners.
