Lewiston

The virtual ghost town of Lewiston is located in Windsor County at an elevation of 387 feet, across the Connecticut River from Hanover, New Hampshire on the Vermont side of the Ledyard Bridge. In its better days, this village existed around a railroad depot that served as an important area hub. Lewiston gradually declined and in 1967 was done in when some of the village's remaining buildings were bulldozed for a feeder to the new Interstate 91, just to the west. Today the scattering of remaining buildings is barely used; several are the property of Dartmouth College, which acquired them in the late 1980s. Lewiston's proximity to Dartmouth lends it some potential.
