Benson Public Library, serving an area of 1,050 residents, has a collection of 10,500 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 176 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 290 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Staffing consists of one employee, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $140. Patrons make 147 visits annually, and check out materials 6,600 times. Twenty-seven percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
