South Royalton is located in
Windsor County, between Interstate 89 and Route 14. It is one of three villages in the immediate area; the other two are Royalton and North Royalton. The total population is approximately 2,400 and the land area is 40.6 square miles. The town was chartered on December 20, 1781. The major event in Royalton's history occurred during the Revolutionary War when on October 16, 1780, it was attacked by the British and Indians.
