Benton City was incorporated on July 2, 1945. It is situated on the Yakima River west of the Tri Cities, nestled between the Horse Heaven and Rattlesnake Hills. Benton city is an agricultural community of about 2600 residents within easy driving distance of the Tri-Cities - Richland, Pasco and Kennewick and within an hour of Yakima. With an average of 300 days of sunshine a year there is plenty of opportunity to take advantage of the many outdoor recreational activities that the area has to offer including skiing, golfing, and water sports or fishing.
