This community in
Okanogan County on the east side of the
Columbia River, sprang up to accommodate those who worked on the construction of
Grand Coulee Dam.
The original town sections are known as "Engineer's Town" or "Government Camp" on the east side, and "Mason City" on the west side.
A self-guided walking tour, beginning at the Visitor Arrival Center, reveals the stories of the town's origins, and explains some of the landmarks peculiar to its history.
